The game started with both teams matching each other but as the game wore on North Ferriby started to take control of proceedings and Gary Bradshaw came close to opening the scoring after nine minutes. Chris Adam had a chance for Ilkeston went he latched on a long Ross Turner clearance but when the deadlock was broken it was no surprise that it was the home side who scored first. Gary Bradshaw attacked down the right and then pulled inside and let fly with a tremendous shot from 35 yards which left Ross Turner stranded in the Ilkeston goal.
Ilkeston were obviously stunned by the quality of the goal and things went from bad to worse when Chris Thompson (pictured left) replaced Chris Adam shortly after the goal and then had to be substituted himself only eight minutes later by Justin Jenkins when he pulled a muscle. However Ilkeston did have a chance to equalise when Nigel Jemson saw a free kick just sail wide of the post.
After the break the Robins looked a bit more positive and Justin Jenkins headed just over from an excellent Ryan Hindley cross. Ilkeston felt they denied a penalty after 54 minutes when Justin Jenkins beat the keeper to a through ball and appeared to be bought down. However the referee did not see the incident and allowed play to carry on.
The game was virtually over however when on 63 minutes that man Bradshaw had a shot at goal which managed to squirm through Ross Turners legs and into the goal to give the home side a 2-0 lead. Ilkeston had a few chances half chances as the game drew to a close but the final say went to the best player on the pitch when Gary Bradshaw completed his hat trick two minutes into added time.
