 WhiteBallProject Man of the Match

Barry Miller- Solid and dependable at the back when Ilkeston were under pressure

Post Mortem

Ilkeston Town Manager Nigel Jemson made only one change to the side that beat Marine in midweek bringing in Miller for his debut to replace the injured Soar.

The Robins started the game and could have 2-0 up before Burscough opened the scoring. Despite losing their keeper the visitors dominated the rest of the half as Ilkeston struggled to get a shot at the stand in keeper. Eventually they did scored and went on to dominated much of the second half although Burscough were dangerous on the break and could and may be should have scored on three or four occasion. Ilkeston got their late winner through Muller but the half was marred was some very poor officiating from a linesman and a panicking referee who appeared far too aware that there was an FA assessor sitting in the stand. Mr Bassindale booked a total of nine players and sent  Manager Jemson to the stand.

In the end it was a valuable three points for the Robins and moves the club one step closer to safety.

Ilkeston will be a much weaker side against Mickleover Sports on Tuesday as several players are not eligible  play including Muller, Gill, Smith M and Miller.
