Town 1
Ilkeston Town
gave runaway league leaders a fright before eventually going down
to a goal five minutes from time. Ilkeston looked the
better side in the first half and took the lead with a scrappy
goals cored by new signing Jon Douglas (pictured right).
In the second half Witton showed why they are dominating the
league at present. Mark Peers scored a spectacular equaliser when
he took on the whole Ilkeston defence to score. Alex Brown
sealed the game with a thunderous drive from twenty five yards in
the eighty fifth minute. So it was no points for the Robins
and it was little consolation that they were beaten by two of the
best goals seen this season.

Town 1 Hednesford Town 0
Ilkeston Town
progressed to the fifth round of the UniBond League Challenge Cup
with a hard fought victory over Hednesford Town. Both teams found
it difficult to create chances throughout the game although
Adam Muller (pictured right) managed to miss two of the
best chances that the Robins did have. The game looked to
be heading for extra time and possibly penalties when Muller
more than made up for his earlier misses with an excellent solo
goal. Picking the ball up 35 yards out he took on the Hednesford
defence and then crashed the ball into the top left corner of the
goal.

Ilkeston Town
looked to be starting the new year with a defeat until they fought
back for a draw in a dramatic and hectic last 15 minutes. The
Robins started the game strongly and went in front after 14
minutes through Dan White. However Worksop got back into
the game and after 25 minutes they were level through Kevin
Sanasay. The Tigers took the lead five minutes lead white missed a
clearance and the ball fell fell to Sanasay to score from eight
yards out. Worse was to follow for Ilkeston when Andy White
outpaced the injured Dan White to add a third for the
visitors.
After the break the
Robins started with three up front but still struggled to make
any chances against a rugged and well organised Worksop defence.
The got a lifeline after 75 minutes when Barry Woolley came
up for a freekick and scored after the visitors failed to clear
the ball. The game should have been over when Sanasay broke clear
but decided to shoot rather than pass to a colleague who had an
open goal opportunity. He drove the ball wide and Ilkeston
still had a chance. Five minutes into added time Justin Walker
(pictured above) got on the end of a loose ball and coolly
slotted the ball home to give Ilkeston a somewhat
fortuitous draw.

Town 1 Ilkeston Town 1
Ilkeston Town
gave a debut to loan signing from Harrogate Town Nathan James
and a second debut to keeper James Lindley who originally
played for Ilkeston as a youngster on loan from Notts
County. Lindley did not make an auspicious start however
when after seven minutes he fumbled a cross which enabled Nathan
Benger to score with a tap in. The Robins were finding it
difficult to copy with a bumpy pitch and looked decidedly second
best for much of the first half. After the break Ilkeston
finally started to put the home defence under pressure and got a
deserved equaliser after Gareth Holmes' speculative shot
was guided home by Barry Woolley (pictured above).
The Robins continued to press and looked the stronger side
but after Dan White came close with a header and a shot it
was obvious a draw was going to be the final result. In the end a
point was a point won rather than two points lost especially as
player manager Nigel Jemson was rather fortunate still to
be on the field after 90 minutes.

comfortable 3-0 victory over Borrowash Victoria. the Robins
dominated the first half and could have been 5-0 up after twenty
five minutes. However they had a couple of attempts disallowed and
the finishing was poor. In the second half Ilkeston sealed
the tie with goals from Adam Lee, Shane Newton and Gareth

December 2007 - Ilkeston Town
succumbed to the efforts of title chasing Marine and the inclement
weather as they went down 5-3. With the wind behind them in the
first half they took a 2-1 lead through a Farley own goal and an
Adam Muller strike just before half-time. Parle scored for
Marine. In the second half the Robins played into a
strengthening gale and went 3-2 down within ten minutes to strikes
from Hussey and Cumisky. RossGardner (pictured right)
pulled one back for Ilkeston but Towey scored a fifth with
six minutes to go. The Robins still had time to miss two
good chances with Martin Carruthers and Muller
shooting wide in added time.

December 2007 - Ilkeston Town
ended a difficult week with a 0-0 draw against Hednesford Town.
Despite the lack of goals the late Paul Millership would
have enjoyed the entertainment on view. The afternoon started with
a minute's applause in memory of Paul and the Robins
seemed to have their minds elsewhere as the visitors made the
better start causing Paul Pettinger to make a number of
important saves. Ilkeston got back into the game however
and managed to miss some excellent chances themselves. Adam
Muller hit the bar, Ross Gardner came close and Adam
Lee beat the keeper with a clever lob only to see the ball
land on the roof of the net.
as the game seemed to be
petering out for a draw ex Robin Paul Robinson had a header
cleared off the line and then from the rebound the ball appeared
to be at least two foot over the line. Amazingly the linesman who
was perfectly did not see it and Ilkeston kept a clean
sheet. Despite this a draw was a fair result in what was a fine
game.

bowed out of the FA Trophy after a 2-1 defeat at Bamber Bridge.
The home side took the lead on the stroke of half time. The

November 2007 - Ilkeston Town
produced their best performance of the season to beat high flying
Gateshead 2-0. Adam Muller again opened the scoring at the
end of an even first half. Justin Walker (pictured
right) sent in a teasing cross which Muller powerfully
headed past Paul Musslewhite. The Robins had to endure some
threatening pressure from Gateshead in the second half although
the visitors rarely created any clear cut chances. Ilkeston
gained in cofidence as the game progressed and on 82 minutes
Ross Gardner scored after a sublime passing move involving
Dougie Wade, Colin Hunter and Muller to seal the game.
Altogether this was an excellent win but most importantly an
impressive performance.

November 2007 - Ilkeston Town
beat Grantham 2-1 to clinch their place in the fourth round of the
UniBond League Cup. The Robins opened brightly and took the
lead after eleven minutes when Adam Muller (pictured
right)scored with a header at the far post after Dougie
Wade's corner had been flicked on by Nathan Winder.
Lee Featherstone added a second after 28 minutes w hen he
forced the ball home after a goalmouth scramble. Grantham pulled
one back through Sam Wilkinson on the stroke of half time and
Ilkeston looked a bit nervous has they started the second half
but the Robins did have several chances to increase their
lead and Grantham also worked to get back in to the game. In the
end there were no more goals and Ilkeston ran out deserved
winners.

27th October 2007 - Fleetwood Town fought back from two
goals down to secure a point at the New Manor Ground. Ilkeston
went into one down but came to lead 3-1 with goals from Adam
Muller, Ross Gardner and Neil Ross. Despite playing
some of their best football of the season the Robins could
not hang on their lead and Fleetwood made it 3-3 with goals from
Foster and Mercer.

24th October
2007 - Ilkeston Town secured their place in the
next round of the FA Trophy with a convincing 4-1 victory over
North Ferriby United. The Robins took the lead with a fine
Neil Ross header after 26 minutes. The visitors chances
were not helped when Andy Thompson inexplicably thumped Gareth
Holmes and was sent off after 51 minutes. A minute later
Ilkeston went 2-0 up when Colin Hunter's cross was headed
back across goal by Ross for Adam Muller to score
his first goal from open play this season. On the hour the
Robins went 3-0 up when Ross again fed Muller
whose shot was parried by Pecora into the path of Dougie Wade
(pictured above). The resilient Gary Bradshaw pulled
one back for North Ferriby but Ross was on hand after 75
minutes to make the game safe when he prodded the ball after more
good work by Wade and Muller.

20th October
2007 - Ilkeston Town kept alive their dreams of
a cup run this season despite a disappointing performance against
ten men North Ferriby United. Ilkeston suffered an early setback
when Neil Ross has to go off with a nasty head injury.
However their luck changed when Adam Muller was adjudged to
have been fouled by the North Ferriby keeper. The referee sent the
keeper off and Muller scored his fifth spot kick of the
season. After the break Paul Pettinger managed to drop the
ball over his own line when gathering a corner to put North
Ferriby back in the game. The Robins were unable to take
advantage of their numerical superiority and did not put the
substitute keeper under pressure until the closing minutes when
Dougie Wade and Shane Newton were bought on. A very
disappointing performance although the 1-1 scoreline means
they have a chance to put it right on Wednesday.

16th October
2007 - Ilkeston Town's roller coaster ride of a
season continued against Stamford with their second 5-4 defeat of
the season. Manager Nigel Jemson tried a more attacking
line up against a team the Robins have already beaten once
this season. All looked fine when Adam Muller supplied
Neil Ross with an easy tap in after six minutes. After 20
minutes Stamford equalised when Gareth Holmes was adjudged
to have fouled a Daniels forward. Lee Colkin scored from the spot
but the Robins were soon back back in front when Colin
Hunter (pictured above) scored his first goal of the
season with an excellently taken free kick on 28 minutes after
Ross had been bought down. Ex Robin Leon Mettam
then capitalised on a defensive mistake to equalise for Stamford
and then Lee Marshall gave the home side the lead for the first
time just before half time. Dougie Wade made it 3-3 on the
hour and then substitute Matthew Baxter was the beneficiary
of a fluke goal when a clearance rebounded off him and looped into
the net. Unfortunately Ilkeston were not for the first time
unable to hold on to a hard earned lead and a penalty from
Battersby and excellent goal from Mettam made it 5-4 to Stamford.

13th October
2007 - Ilkeston Town's improved run of results
came to an abrupt end against a strong Buxton side led by ex
Robin Anton Foster. Foster helped give the viistors the lead
after only five minutes when he supplied the cross for Jason
Bradley to head past a stranded Paul Pettinger. Ilkeston
equalised with their first real chance when Nathan Winder
got on the end of a fine Lee Featherstone cross. After the
break Bradley pounced again to put Buxton ahead and this inspired
the Robins to put the visitors defence under pressure but
chances were missed and as the game wore on Buxton became
increasingly comfortable.

10th October
2007 - Ilkeston Town followed up their
impressive win at Gateshead with a clinical 3-1 defeat of bottom
of the table Frickley Athletic. Manager Nigel Jemson
started with the same line up which defeated unbeaten Gateshead
and the Robins took the lead after 42 minutes when Justin
Walker blasted the ball into the roof of the net after good
work by Adam Muller and Neil Ross. Ilkeston
went 2-0 up when Nathan Winder converted Walkers
cross after 54 minutes. Ross Gardner volleyed home the
third after an excellent passing move involving a number of now
confident Robins. Veteran Neil Redfearn scored a fine
consolation goal for Frickley with 13 minutes to go but the
night belonged to Ilkeston and three more points.

October
2007 - Ilkeston Town put behind them what was a
difficult week with a terrific away win at unbeaten Gateshead. The
Tynesiders took the lead after only six minutes through Phillips
but Ilkeston struck back when Adam Muller was
needlessly fouled by the Gateshead keeper. Muller duly
dispatched his fourth penalty of the season. The home side
themselves attained a controversial penalty when Paul Pettinger
was adjudged to have head butted a Gateshead forward when clearing
a cross. Pettinger however heroically saved the spot kick
and kept the Robins in the game. Ilkeston's second goal and winner
came on 74 minutes when Neil Ross (pictured right)
got on the end of a Justin Walker cross and scored with an
excellent header. The Robins will be now looking to pick up
three more points against bottom of the league Frickley Athletic
at the New Manor Ground on Wednesday.

September
2007 - Manager Nigel Jemson surprised many fans
by picking himself to play at sweeper in attempt to bolster his
injury ravaged defence. The gamble seemed to be paying off when
the Robins took the lead against Marine with an excellent
free kick from Jemson (pictured right) himself.
Although the manager had to limp off just before galf time things
still looked good Neil Ross made it 2-0 early in the second
half. With Ilkeston in complete control it came as a bit of
a surprise when Paul Woolcott pulled a goal back for Marine on 66
minutes. There did not seem any need to panic but after Ricky
Brewer was replaced in defence by Martin Carruthers the
wheels appeared to come off the bus. With the Robins
defence in total disarray Marine netted three times in seven
minutes win a game which they seemed totally out of with eight
minutes to go. Manager Nigel Jemson left the field to
the sound of the cheering Marine supporters and total silence from
the few stunned remaining Ilkeston fans after a game which
initially promised so much.

2007 - Ilkeston Town poor run of results

September
2007 - Ilkeston Town fans were left to reflect
on a game where with a bit they could have scored four or five
against championship contenders Witton Albion. The
Robins went two down through goals from Steve Brodie and Rod
Thornley. Despite this setback Ilkeston kept on pressing and the
impressive Jermaine Palmer (pictured right)
twice hit the underside of the bar with long range efforts.
Adam Muller also came close when he was left one on one with
the keeper but had his effort saved by John Kennedy. Late in the
first half Gareth Holmes saw his 35 yard effort also hit
the bar and early in the second half Kennedy made an excellent
save from a Paulo Piliero header on the far post.
Ironically despite all their chances the Robins still looked
second best to a confident Witton side led by the excellent Rod
Thornley and Paul Pettinger was called on to make a series
of excellent saves.

September
2007 - Ilkeston Town's late goal
jinx struck again as they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Sutton
Coldfield Town. The home side took the lead after 10 minutes
through the experienced Justin Rowe. Ilkeston however then
proceeded miss a string of excellent chances and could have gone
in at half time leading by four clear goal. Instead they had to
wait till the 50th minute when Adam Muller converted a
penalty after Jermaine Palmer had been brought down by
Male. The offender was red carded and Sutton were down to men.
Alas like the well worn cliche the home side played better with
their handicap and won the game to everyone's surprise with a goal
from Michael Beckley after 89 minutes.

2007 - Again Ilkeston Town bounced back from a
poor result with an excellent performance. The visitors Guiseley
sat top of the league but this did not stop Ilkeston taking
a 2-0 lead through Neil Ross (pictured right) and a
Aaron Wilford own goal. The excellent Dan Smith retired
injured at half time and Guisely pulled a goal back three minutes
later. It still looked as though the Robins would gain
three points but yet again they were thwarted by a late goal as
Guiseley equalised deep into added time through James Hanson.

September
2007 - Ilkeston Town came second in a nine goal
thriller against Lincoln United. Barry Woolley put the
Robins 1-0 up after 17 minutes and Jermaine Palmer
scored a second seven minutes later. Alex Rodman pulled one back
for Lincoln after 28 minutes but Ilkeston still looked in
control. However on 49 minutes Rodman again waltzed through a
static Robins defence and equalised. Then Woolley went off
injured and Lincoln took advantage going 4-2 up with goals from
Jenkins and Wright. The fightback by Ilkeston started when
Martin Carruthers (pictured above) replaced Adam
Muller on 75 minutes. Firstly Carruthers crossed for
Neil Ross to score and then with three minutes to go
Carruthers scored the goal of the game with a fantastic header
from a Lee Featherstone cross. Alas ex Robin Jenkins
had the last word and broke the Ilkeston's hearts with a very very
late winner.

2007 - Ilkeston Town got back to winning ways in
dramatic with a last minute winner against North Ferriby United.
Adam Muller (pictured right) gave the Robins
the lead from the spot after he was bought down with an open goal
gaping before him. Gary Bradshaw scored with an excellent volley
to equalise for North Ferriby United but Ilkeston had the
last say when Bolder deflected a Lee Featherstone cross
into his own goal with seconds remaining to make the score 2-1.

Romolus and Sutton Coldfield
Town drew their FA Cup tie so the Robins still do not know
who they will play in the next round although it will definitely
be played at Coles Lane as both teams share the ground.
27th
August 2007 - A very odd linesman's decision and
brilliant by home teams keeper denied Ilkeston Town an away
win at local rivals Eastwood Town. In a scrappy and dour struggle
the Robins has the best of chances and thought they had gone a
goal up just before half time when Barry Woolley's header
was deflected into their own net by an Eastwood defender. The
linesman however flagged for off side against a player who we must
presume was adjudged to be interfering with play. In the second
half Ilkeston continued to press forward and came closest when Ian
Deakin made an excellent save from Neil Ross. However the
game fizzled out tempers frayed and honours even.
Overall this was another
disjointed display which was better than Saturday's due the
greater fight shown by the Robins.
WhiteBall Project Man of the Match

25th
August 2007 - Ilkeston Town's bright start to
the season came to an abrupt end when they faced Ossett Town. The
visitors who included ex Robin Ben Jones in their ranks
were far too sharp for a lacklustre Robin's side which was
unchanged from that which impressively beat Stamford in midweek.
The goals came from James Cotterill and Aiden Savoury and Ossett
could have had more if it had not been for some important saves
from Paul Pettinger (pictured right).

22nd
August 2007 - England may have been being depressingly
beaten by Germany in the bar but on the field at the New Manor
Ground Ilkeston Town gained their first win of the season
over Stamford. The Robins took the lead after 21 minutes
when Lee Colkin handled in the area and Adam Muller stepped
up to convert the spot kick. Neil Ross (pictured right)
added a second just before half time after the visitors had
started to look like they might get back into the game. In the
second half Stamford pushed forward but Ilkeston soaked up the
pressure, counter attacked and should have added to their tally.
Ex Robin John Burns had the last word however with an
excellent headed goal in time added on. Overall an excellent
performance by Ilkeston particularly in defence where Barry
Woolley and Danny White were outstanding.
WhiteBall Project Man of the Match

18th August 2007 - Ilkeston Town
travelled to Ashton United for their opening game of the new
season and returned with a share of the spoils in a 0-0 darw.
Manager Nigel Jemson handed debuts to Paul Pettinger,
Liam Powell, Dan White, Ross Gardner, Neil Ross and Colin
Hunter. Barry Woolley (pictured right) made his
second Robins debut and looks to be forming a solid partnership
