24th August  2004

Ilkeston Town drew 2-2 at Stocksbridge Park Steels but will feel that they should hav ewon had they converted the numerous chances they created in the second half. Nigel Jemson gave the Robins the lead on 13 minutes with his first goal for the club.Stocksbridge replied with goals from Andy Ring and Wayne Bullimore before Nigel Jemson's cross was put into his own goal by Dave McNicholas. The point moved the Robins up to fourth place in the table.

PRE SEASON HIGHS AND LOWS BUT STILL OPTIMISTIC

18th August  2004

Since the last news update Ilkeston Town have disappointingly lost to Long Eaton United and Gedling United but have gained creditable victories over Worksop Town, Derby County and Arnold Town. Manager Phil Stant will now be fine tuning the squads preparations for the new season in a series of training sessions and practice matches . He will have been encouraged by the form of new signing Justin Jenkins and the return of Marc Laws. The other big signing has been the capture of ex Nottingham Forest star Nigel Jemson. Nigel was playing with Northern Ireland side Ballymena United last season scoring 9 goals. he was released when the club found they could not afford him any longer. In pre season he was playing for Partick Thistle although he was training with Nottingham Forest. Nigel may have to get international clearance from FIFA before he can grace the New Manor Ground.

The internet scene in the UniBond League appears to be much livelier than its Dr Martens League counterparts. Mossley are well represented and have set up a UniBond League Prediction League. Many Ilkeston fans have already taken part but if you still want to join Click here >>>>>.

The league also have their own official site which is currently being updated.

The Official Match Programme this season should cost £1.50 which will bring it in to line with other clubs at this level. Programmes sales rarely cover the cost of production so it is important that fans support the fans who produce this programme free of charge.

Saturdays visitors are Woodley Sports who hail from Stockport. Ilkeston will have to be at their best because Woodley have shown that they are a team on the way up. They have beaten some team from the UniBond Premier Division and won the Cheshire Senior Cup last season. One of their players Mickey Ryan seems to be spend more time on the internet than most non league footballers. He is already on a promise of several pints in the clubhouse after the game on Saturday.
