WATERLOGGED PITCH THWARTS ILSON

15th February  2005

Ilkeston Town's game against Mossley was postponed after an early morning pitch inspection by a local referee. The pitch was under water in some areas and very waterlogged in others. The game has been re arranged for Tuesday 19th April. Whilst the Robins went without a game promotion North Ferriby United and AFC Telford both won. North Ferriby are now eleven points clear at the top but Ilkeston have four games in hand.

Local rivals Eastwood Town and Alfreton Town both managed to escape the ravages of the weather. Eastwood were surprisingly well beaten by Chorley whilst Alfreton fought out a dour 0-0 game with Worcester City. WhiteBallProject attended this game to see how the large contingent of ex Robins were now fairing. Chris Bettney and David Holmes played for Alfreton and Worcester fielded Leon Kelly and Barry Woolley. Ironically the best of the bunch was Chris Bettney who was probably was the least successful whilst at the New Manor Ground.

Despite the hysteria generated on the forum Stuart Copnell (pictured top left) has not left Ilkeston Town and his appearance for AFC Barnsley is a  case of dual registration.

Ilkeston Town's next game is at home against Stocksbridge Park Steels on Saturday 19th February and is a 3pm kick off.
