JEMSON DOUBLE SEALS COMEBACK

Ilkeston Town came back from a goal down to capture three valuable in their quest for promotion to the UniBond League Premier Division. Kidgsrove Athletic took the lead through Matthew Rhead on the half hour. Nigel Jemson equalised on 70 mins and sealed the victory with a controversial penalty after 86 minutes. The win maintains Ilkeston's position of second in the table four points behind leaders North Ferriby United. The Robins however have two games in hand over their Humberside rivals.

Ilkeston's joy at winning was tempered by the news that Paul Smith has had to retire from the game after receiving medical advice for his recurring back injury. Also Liam Walshe has been handed a four match after his sending off against Whitby Town and Mick Goddard has been suspended for one game for picking up his fifth yellow card of the season. Both bans start when Ilkeston travel to AFC Telford next week.

 

Ilkeston Town's next game is away against AFC Telford on Saturday 5th February and is a 3pm kick off.

 

WHITBY TOO STRONG IN BAD TEMPERED CUP TIE

22nd January  2005

 

Ilkeston Town were well beaten by a strong Whitby Town side in a bad tempered game at the Turnbull Ground. Dave McTiernan put Whitby in front from the spot after only two minutes but David Jervis equalised four minutes later. Steve Johnson got a second for the Seasiders and after Liam Walshe was sent off Dave McTiernan bagged his second.

GODDARD DOUBLE MAKES WIRES CROSS

15th January  2005

 

Two goals from striker Mick Goddard clinched three points for Ilkeston town against a defensive Warrington side. the wires took the lead through Michael Heverin on 15 minutes but Goddard replied on 25 and 62 minutes.

ILSON GO BACK ON TOP AFTER BELPER WIN

1st January  2005

 

Ilkeston Town started 2005 with a hard fought victory in atrocious conditions over local rivals Belper Town. Nigel Jemson got the first goal after 68 minutes and substitute Stuart Copnell scored an excellent goal with nine minutes remaining. The win takes the Robins two points clear of North Ferriby United who have played the same number of games and four clear of Gresley Rovers who have a game in hand.
