ILSON DRAW BLANK AT BELPER BUT BEAT SPALDING

29th March  2005

Ilkeston Town have managed to just keep on course for automatic promotion by gaining four points out of six over the bank holiday period. On Good Friday they beat Spalding United 1-0 with a bizarre from we think Nigel Jemson although many fans thought Chris Thompson had scored and to many others it looked like an own goal.

Fortunately for Ilkeston Willenhall, North Ferriby United and AFCTelford have all dropped points so the automatic promotion Ilkeston desire is still there for the taking.

Ilkeston Town's next game is away to Willenhall Town on Saturday 2nd April and is a 3pm kick off.

Stuart Copnell has joined Eastwood Town and scored on his debut and Ilkeston have signed Lawrence Hall from Long Eaton United. Lawrence was a trainee at Stoke City and has also played for Gresley Rovers and Wycombe Wanderers. Ilkeston fans were also relieved to hear that Ryan Hindley has decided to sty at the New manor Ground having turned down an approach from AFC Telford.

LOWLY ROSSENDALE SINK ILSON WITH LATE WINNER

19th March  2005

Ilkeston Town's recent run of poor form continued with a disappointing defeat at second from bottom Rossendale United. Dean Cooper got the winner with just three minutes remaining. The reverse sees the Robins slip down to fourth place as Willenhall and Telford both picked up maximum points. The misery was completed by an injury to Mick Goddard and the late sending off of Stuart Copnell (pictured left).

On Tuesday night Ilkeston Town fought out a 1-1 draw with Kidsgrove Athletic. Glyn Hancock gave the home side the lead in the first half but Nigel Jemson pulled a goal back after 50 minutes. The Robins had chances to secure all three points but Heeps in the Kidsgrove goal had an inspired evening.

Rumours abound about the future Stuart Copnell and Ryan Hindley (pictured right). Eastwood are reported to have put in seven days for Copnell and Telford have allegedly done the same with Hindley. All at the WhiteBallProject hope both players stay at the New Manor ground and  we will keep you posted with any official announcements.

Ilkeston Town's next game is at home against Spalding United on Good Friday 25th March and is a 7.45 kick off.

OG HEARTBREAK AS POINTS ARE DROPPED

12th March  2005

Ilkeston Town dropped two points at home to Clitheroe due to a late own goal from keeper Ross Turner. Mark Clifford had given Ilkeston the lead on 48 minutes and the Robins totally dominated an often bad tempered game. Clitheroe were reduced to ten men in the second half and managed to go the whole game without a shot on target and still got a point.

Fortunately for the Robins Willenhall lost at home for the second time in a week when they were defeated 2-0 by Ossett Albion and North Ferriby drew at in form Kendal Town.

Ilkeston Town's next game is away at Kidgsrove Athletic on Tuesday 15th March.
