FIVE POINTS CLEAR AT THE TOP

28th September  2004

 

Ilkeston Town went five points clear at the top of the UniBond Division One table after they beat Spalding United 2-1. Mark Lever (pictured right) put the Robins ahaed after five minutes but Spalding equalised after 53 minutes. However the in form Craig Swinscoe was on hand ten minutes from the end to give Ilkeston all three points.

Closest rivals Gresley Rovers drew with Saturday's visitors North Ferriby United 2-2 with ex Robin Aaron O'Connor getting both their goals.

 

 

UNDER PAR ILSON WIN YET AGAIN

25th September  2004

 

Ilkeston Town maintained their position at the top of the table with a slender 1-0 at Chorley despite turning in another under par performance. Craig Swinscoe (pictured left) scored the only goal when on 12 minutes he got on the end of a David Jervis cross.

Gresley  Rovers went to third placed Mossley and won one-nil to maintain the pressure on the Robins at the top.

 

Ex Robins Joe Atkinson and Jason Westwood have signed for South Normanton Athletic. This was only a week after a Jason Westwood was pictured in the Derby Telegraph Green Un turning out for Mansfield FC. A team which looked remarkably like a pub side. Best of luck to both!!

 

On Tuesday night  Ilkeston Town travel to Spalding United.

 

INJURED REF BUT ILSON STILL WIN 1-0

21st September  2004

 

Ilkeston Town remain top of the UniBond league Division One table despite putting in an under par performance and suffering a 35 minute break in the game whilst club officials desperately searched for a replacement for an injured referee. Willenhall Town dominated much of the game particularly in the second half but went down to a Paul Smith strike on 47 minutes. The visitors enjoyed most of the possession after that but could have conceded two more goals when Justin Jenkins and Paul Smith both missed good chances.

Chris Freestone (pictured left) has joined Osset Town on loan and ex Robins David Coulson has joined Gateshead and Paul Norton has moved from Gainsborough Trinity to Stocksbridge Park Steels.

 

Ilkeston Towns home game against North Ferriby United has been switched from Tuesday 6th October to Saturday 2nd October and is a 3.00pm kick off.

 

Ilkeston Town's next game is away to Chorley on Saturday 25th September. Chorley have not had a good start to the season but apparently been very unlucky!

 

GRESLEY GRAB GLORY AS ILSON CRASH 3-0

18th September  2004

 

Ilkeston Town suffered their first defeat of the season as they were humbled by an impressive Gresley Rovers 3-0. The defeat send Ilkeston out of the FA Cup but the Robins will be looking to bounce back when they play Willenhall on Tuesday night in a 7.45 kick off.

ILSON GO TOP

15th September  2004

 

Ilkeston Town leapfrogged over Brigg Town and Mossley to head the Unibond Lague Division One after defeating Brigg Town 2-1. Brigg took the lead through Lee Cochrane but replied with a wonder goal from the in form Ryan  Hindley and won the game through a Dan Hope own goal.

ILSON HIT FIVE IN GOAL FEAST

11th September  2004

 

Ilkeston Town moved up to second in the table after beating Rossendale United 5-3 at the New Manor Ground. Rossendale opened the scoring but Ilkeston replied with two goals each from Nigel Jemson and Ryan Hindley and one from Craig Swinscoe. Swinscoe actually scored for both teams and his own goal helped make the scoreline a bit more respectable.

Ilkeston Town face Brigg Town on Wednesday 15th September and if they can come away with three points they will be top of the table.

 

SWINSCOE SAVES ILSON BLUSHES

7th September  2004

 

Ilkeston Town were rescued by defender Craig Swinscoe as they had to come from behind against lowly Rocester to save their unbeaten league run. The Robins took the lead through Chris Adam but were pegged back by strikes from Hewitt and Millward. Craig Swinscoe saved the day in the sixty fifth minute to give Ilkeston a share of the spoils.

On Saturday 11th September Ilkeston Town entertain Rossendale United in a 3.oopm kick off

 

SMITH DOUBLE SEALS IT FOR ROBINS

4th September  2004

 

Ilkeston Town progressed to the first qualifying of the FA Cup by defeating a poor Alvechurch outfit 3-1. The Robins were shocked early on as Alvechurch took the lead after five minutes. Paul Smith scored a brace which put Ilkeston in the lead and Chris Thompson scored a third in the dying minutes.

In the next round Ilkeston Town will play local rivals Gresley Rovers at home on the 18th September.

Ilkeston entertain Rocester on Tuesday 10th September in a 7.45 kick off at the New Manor Ground.
