Manager Charlie Bishop saw his revitalised Ilkeston Town side move up to fifth in the table after defeating Mangotsfield United at the New Manor Ground.

Kristian Stephens came in for Fabian Smith for his first start of the season and the Robins welcomed back Aaron O'Connor and Anthony Anderson who took their places on the bench.

Ilkeston started in spectacular fashion and went in front after only two minutes when Chris Thompson  was bundled off the ball as he bore down on goal. Chris Freestone sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot. Ilkeston continued to pile forward with Marc Laws hitting a post and Chris Freestone having a fine header saved by the keeper.  The Robins did not have to wait long for a breakthrough when Marc Laws picked up a weak clearance from a free kick and shot into the the bottom corner from twenty yards out. Despite the impressive start Ilkeston then seemed to go to sleep and allowed Mangotsfield back into the game. The visitors came close on a number of occasions before they got a deserved goal on 41 minutes. Craig Swinscoe gave the ball away on the right resulting in a cross which was converted the Mangotsfield captain David Seal.

Fortunately for Ilkeston they started the second half in positive fashion and regained their two goal after 52 minutes when substitute Aaron O'Connor saw his shot parried by the keeper leaving Alex Callery the simple task of tapping the ball in from close range. Mangotsfield however continue to create chances them selves and Andy Love made an excellent save after 55 minutes. The Robins defence looked unusually unsettled when Mangotsfield pushed forward but the visitors were unable to convert their chances. Alex Callery had a good shot for Ilkeston before the visitors were foiled by another excellent save by Andy Love from Darren Edwards header on 43 minutes. Ilkeston however made the game safe on 75 minutes when Chris Thompson intercepted a pass out of defence and ran at the Mangotsfield rearguard. His shot was only parried by Danny Greave and Chris Freestone pounced to give the Robins a 4-1 lead. Mangotsfield never gave up and Jack Pitcher pulled another goal back in the dying minutes.

Man of the Match Alex Callery - Just pipped Chris Thompson and Marc Laws who both had excellent games. Alex is getting stronger each game and today was a constant creative threat.
